About FinanceLives

FinanceLives publishes free educational calculators, comparisons and guides for financial rules in 10 countries. Each tool states its assumptions so you can check whether its scenario fits your own situation.

Our Mission

Personal finance is local. A mortgage in the United States uses different tax deductions, interest rates, and loan structures than a mortgage in the United Kingdom or Australia. A progressive tax system in India is completely distinct from the cantonal rates in Switzerland or the deemed return boxes in the Netherlands.

Our aim is to make country-specific rules easier to inspect. Calculators use published parameters and your inputs to produce estimates, not exact personal tax or legal outcomes. Rules can change after a page's review date, so each money decision still needs a check against the linked authority and, when appropriate, a qualified adviser.

Our side-by-side comparisons cover actual choices such as Australian offset versus redraw mortgages, Singapore Savings Bonds versus fixed deposits, and a Canadian fixed versus variable mortgage. Their results change with the assumptions you enter; they do not recommend a product or provider.

A focused country glossary explains less familiar regulatory terms with worked examples. The blog follows dated policy changes, and the Daily Finance Challenge offers a word puzzle and a four-question quiz for practice.

Our Technology

Calculator and comparison inputs are processed in your browser, and the tools do not require an account. The site is statically generated. Our privacy policy explains the separate analytics and advertising technologies used when you visit.

What Can You Compare?

Our comparison tools cover the most critical financial planning decisions across multiple categories:

  • Investing: CPF versus ETF in Singapore and PIE fund versus ETF in New Zealand
  • Retirement: NPS versus UPS in India and KVdR versus private health insurance in Germany
  • Tax: Box 3 savings versus investments in the Netherlands and working-holiday versus resident tax in Australia
  • Insurance: Cash settlement versus insurer-managed home repair in Australia
  • Mortgages: Fixed versus variable in Canada, offset versus redraw in Australia, and annuity versus linear repayment in the Netherlands
  • Savings: Singapore Savings Bonds versus fixed deposits and FHSA versus RRSP in Canada

Each comparison describes a specific scenario and shows how the result changes with its inputs. Read its eligibility limits and source notes before applying it to a real decision.
